Alternate ways of teaching Mathematics
1.
Relating Mathematics with daily life
For example, to measure the height of cliff it is not possible to measure it through a measuring tape so their mathematics come and we can do it via using the basic rules of trigonometry. Telling the students, the significance of mathematics in daily life.
2.
Teaching students to learn to draw nets of 3D shapes
For example, to find the surface area of 3D shapes, where are really
difficult for the students, we can teach them how to draw the nets of 3D
shapes to find the Surface Area of 3D shapes. We can carry out activity
session with the students where we can ask them to bring a chart paper,
scissors, glue and stationery and tell them to draw the nets of 3D shapes
like cylinder, cone, pyramid etc. and then they will join it to make 3D
shape. After reopening it they will be asked and helped in finding the
surface area of it.
3.
Using Projector in the class
For example, rather than using traditional way of drawing shapes and
writing questions on board (which takes so much time) we can project past
papers questions on white board via projector and explain it using writing
pad. It will not only save time but also make learning interesting.
4.
Using interactive software to explain construction in geometry
For example, We can use online websites and software to teach students
geometrical constructions like MathsPad (https://www.mathspad.co.uk/index.php)
Geogebra (https://www.geogebra.org/) etc.
We need to have paid version as free version comes with limitations and few
options which can be hindrance to teach students concepts properly.
